Maybe nobody missed me.
I was sick (abdominal pain) most of 1/19-1/22, hospitalized 1/23-1/24 (Fri-Sat), couldn't figure out what was wrong (probably gallstone or other gallbladder problem, or kidneystone or other kidney problem), then ambulanced Wed 1/28 with what turns out to have been congestive heart failure.
They told me if I'd always done everything I'd been told to do and never done what I'd been told not to do, the CHF would either never have happened or have been nowhere near as bad (and would have been caught earlier).
Anyway they gave me Lasix by the litre and I peed every 8 minutes for a day or so, then felt a lot better -- no more running out of breath from just walking down the hall. _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Wow!
I thought CHF was kind of a permanent thing, like once you have it, you have it. My dad actually has CHF after his several heart attacks, and essentially only 20% heart function at this point.
Glad you're back! So, do they have you on medications so things are stable at this point? _________________ Dwirze ghárìlen ershónyá áqálán.

Thanks, everyone!

My heart's now functioning about as well as it did before the first one; less than ideal, but not too bad. Theoretically it could be improved with a regimen including medicines, diet, and exercise.

halyihev wrote: | So, do they have you on medications so things are stable at this point? | Yes. Mostly the medicines I should have been on anyway (I had run out of some prescriptions and been unable to refill them -- or, at least, I thought I couldn't refill them, so I didn't.) As long as I take them religiously and also avoid the things I'm not supposed to eat or drink, I won't have CHF. But the CHF isn't "cured"; if I just stop the medicines it will come back. _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Man, that made me remember the time when I had to take some pills that could even provoke some infarctions due to a much higher blood pressure level... It was just too horrible, I couldn't even go for a walk without starting to sweat about 5 min later...
I hope you don't experienced these things ever again but that depends on how many risks you'll take from now on. _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke
