this is a new conlang that i came up with!! i wanted it to look like a scananavian language. i took a couple of letters from the Icelandic and Old Norse alphabets, to make it look more like it was from the north. here it is.
a b Þ c d e f g h i j k l m n o ð p q r s t u v w x y z
Þ is [θ]
ð is [ð]
x is normally pronounced [ʃ] unless it is used in a foreign word.
j is pronounced like the english y.
3 accent marks are used as well:
the acute accent,
the circumflex accent,
as well as the umlaut.
a,e,i,o, and u are pronounced as they are in spanish.
the capital form of ð is Ð.
if you have any suggestions, please comment . _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

Grammar
if you want to make a word that ends in a vowel plural, add -tten as a suffix. if you want to make a word that ends in a consonant plural, add -s.
(the one exception to this rule is the word for "what" which is "vatten"; it is not plural.)
the word order is SVO.
the adjective goes before the noun or a verb in a sentence.
all nouns' as well as pronouns' first letters in a sentence are capitalized.
the standard gender is masculine and feminine. just add -o or -a to change a word's gender. all words ending in a consonant are considered masculine.
if you have any questions or comments, please ask. or if i forgot something completely important, please let me know. _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

just some vocab...
and= ðag
a (masculine)= kó
a (feminine)= ká
the (masculine)= jo
the (feminine)= ja
is= ist
he= kéo
she= kéa
because= chu
I= Ik
you= Eu
have= habben
to= dóu
too= álstjen
what= vatten
tower= Ráff
flower= Vas
water= Váter
bird= Bjub
shoe= Klog
jump= tuð
lake= Laag
table= Tjup
backpack= Rúkensjak
hello= glütag
goodbye= abensajn
yes= jaj
no= naj
what do single syllable words have accents for, you ask? well, since the accent marks do not change the sound of a vowel, they tell you where to put the stress in a sentence. for example, if you wanted to say "he has a table" then it would be "Kéo xaz kó Tjup". you would pronounce the sentence like "KEo xaz KO Tjup".
again if you have any questions, let me know. this rule seems unusual at first, but you get used to it. _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

well to make adverbs, add the suffix "or".
to make a question, add a question mark.
the word for fish is "Labar". _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

it doesnt. the reason (like i said in the vocabulary post) that words that are single- syllabled have accent marks is to make stress on a certain segment of a sentence clear. like in the example "he has a table", "KEo xaz KO tjup" is how it would be pronounced. (note: the capital letters show the stress.)
does that make sense? it does make it seem very unusual at first, but you get used to it. _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

Oh I see, so is there much point for all three of them? And I guess you are using them like Spanish which has only one accent, but I'm pretty sure in French, the accents change the vowel sound? Am I right? |

you are correct that the accent marks in French are used to change the the sound of the vowel, except the circumflex accent, that is used for stress. i suppose that the circumflex isnt used that much in this conlang, however it is also used for stress. also, the umlaut does change the sound of a vowel (i forgot to mention that), but it is mostly only used on the u. when you have an umlaut over a u, the it is pronounced as in german. _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

How could you accidentally ban yourself? So that explains why you haven't been around lately? How are you going to undo this? I want you back! Too bad mods can't ban and unban people then I would unban you but....
*Looks at TF's post* What mods can unban people! This is new. I have some one on Conlanger's forum that I don't want there because he/she already caused an uproar on this forum.... _________________

And that would work only for polar questions ("Yes or no questions" in English).
What about content questions? (How what when where who why, which whether whither, and so on, in English.) You've told us the word for "what" ("vatten"), but not how to use it. (Isn't "vatten" the plural of "va"?)
How are "yes" and "no" ("jaj" and "naj") used to answer "negative questions", like, "didn't you go to school today?"
Icelandic is famous for its "quirky" cases. Does your conlang have case? Does it have any non-canonically marked subjects and/or objects?
How do you express an imperative? |

to make a question clear from a statement, make your voice go up as in american english.
as i said, the one exception to the plurality rule is the word "vatten". it is not a plural of "va". to ask a question like "how many what's are in this sentence" you would have to make the word "vatten" plural. to do this, add an "s" at the end.
again, to ask a question, just raise your voice at the end of a sentence.
lol i pretty much have no idea what your last paragraph means (this is really only a hobby for me) _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!
