This file is an Excel file that has some shapes in it.

They are regular (k,m)-gons for 3<=k<=12 and 1<=m<k/2.

If k is odd, there are two versions; one with a vertex at the top and a horizontal base at the bottom, and one with a vertex at the bottom and a horizontal base at the top. (E.g., the (3,1) shows up both as a delta and as a nabla. The (5,2) shows up both as a "star" pentagram and as an upside-down pentagram.)

If k is twice an odd number, there are two versions; one with vertices at the top and bottom and vertical bases at the left and right, and one with vertices at the left and right and horizontal bases at the top and bottom.

If k is a multiple of four, there are two versions; one with vertices at the top and bottom and left and right, and one with vertical bases at left and right and horizontal bases at top and bottom. (E.g., the (4,1) shows up both as a diamond and as a square.)

Here are my questions;

What are the names of these shapes in your conlang?

Do the square and the diamond have different names in your conlangs as they do in English?

Do you know of a natlang that names the different orientations differently for some k>4? I can't think of different English names for different orientations of pentagons and pentagrams and hexagons and Mogen David or Seal of Solomon and the "serve and protect" stars and so on.

Are there other orientations of some of these figures that have their own names (either in one of your conlangs or in one of your natlangs)? For instance, maybe an equilateral triangle with a vertical base at the left and a vertex at the right, or one with a vertex at the left and a vertical base at the right.

What about other numbers of vertices? For instance, how many and which (k,m)-gons for 12<k<=24 and 1<=m<k/2 does your 'lang have simplish names for?

Notice that if m>1 has a factor >1 in common with k, I had to draw two or more figures on top of each other, and since I was using Excel's charting function to do that, they came out different colors.

So the (6,2) looks like two equilateral triangles on top of each other; they're supposed to represent just one figure.

So the (8,2) looks like a square and a diamond on top of each other; they're supposed to represent just one figure.

The (9,3) looks like three equilateral triangles on top of each other; they're supposed to be just one figure.

The (10,2) looks like two pentagons on top of each other, and the (10,4) looks like two pentagrams on top of each other.

The (12,2) looks like two hexagons, the (12,3) looks like three squares, and the (12,4) looks like four triangles.

Those are all just limitations in my drawing skills. So are any discrepancies between width and height. Please try to see what I intended to draw, if it's a bit different from what I actually did draw.

How do your 'langs (nat- and con-) denote the different pentominoes -- if they do?

How do your 'langs (nat- and con-) denote the different hexiamonds -- if they do?

How about various three-dimensional shapes, like tetracubes and pentacubes?

What are your conpeoples' semantic primes (or semantic primitives or whatever the right phrase is) for shapes, 2D and 3D?

This is definitely a thing to ponder, but unfortunately I have nothing to contribute, conlang or nat...
