According to wiki, in ancient Greek they would be called Δωδεκαθλος, (dodekathlos) and they were the (self-imposed?) punishment for Herakles's deeds, killing his own family... Has your conworld, conmyths, conreligion or conphilosophy anything similar to these labours? Has any of them such a (heroic) character in any of their stories? Do they think it's fiction or reality? _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

Would someone who did all those be a dodecathlete?
Any chance the dodecathlon could become an Olympic event?
There are biathletes and triathletes and pentathletes and decathletes; this says there are also tetrathletes, heptathletes, octathletes, tetradecathletes, and icosathletes. _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Sure, along with the slaying of the Minotaur. Going down to the Underworld and returning could also be an event. _________________ Iwocwá ĵọṭãsák.

But there's a problem with slaying Minotaurs (as an Olympic event); and that is, the limited supply of Minotaurs available. Would ordinary bullfights do instead? (Though I think the IOC would be against any event that involved killing; even the riflery events use clay pigeons instead of the real thing.) _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

I'm surprised to see how easy this turned out to be a very good example of OT hehehe...
Maybe they should just kill any monster like Medusa, the Minotaur, etc. _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

Lately I started staring at Pacman as it were a suspicious game... I mean, it lets me think Pacman itself is actually a depiction of the Minotaur and the ghosts nothing else than his sacrificial victims... I'm not the first person who think this might be possible, anyone who has played any Japanese game might already know they've made several videogames based on Indoeuropean mythology, a more recent example would be Final Fantasy with the characters like Ifrit, Odin, Titan among many others...
Of course, some people will say that the ghosts or monsters are the evil guys there, but if Pacman dies, the game ends. I guess that's because it finally met a Theseus who could get rid of the maze real monster. If Pacman kills a ghost, it can still eat another one if it want to and this actually resembles the way the Minotaur treated his "guests"... _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

We don't have to use real Minotaurs, of course. Surely a team of our best engineers can design a Minotaurbot. _________________ Iwocwá ĵọṭãsák.

Are you sure it won't become a spam bot at some point? _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

In that case, would it lure people in it's Labyrinth of Spam&Death instead of spamming everywhere else? |

Like Keith Laumer's "Bolos" or Colin Kapp's "Gottlos" or Steve Jackson's "Ogres"?
Anybody who took down one of those really would deserve a medal!
What kind of equipment could they have? And could it be a team event? _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

But how could they make sure the contenders won't die while trying to hunt the Minotaurbot or the Medusabot or anything else? _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

Perhaps the culture wouldn't mind - they might consider death a proper reward for failure. |

A ball of string and a sword, at the very least.
Nope, although one idea is that as well as slaying the Minotaur, one would have to get people out of the labyrinth as well. _________________ Iwocwá ĵọṭãsák.

At what point will we be, and how close are we to being, ready to present this idea to the International Olympic Commission? _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |
