I would say "whether" instead of "if", but I'm not native English speaker, so it's just my feeling  |

Formally, maybe, it could be something like this:

I'm a native speaker and that's my intuition of formal perfection. Which probably means other native speakers would have different intuitions.

'If' is certainly fine informally. |
