Thanks for the idea to Eldin-sama.

Japanese:
上を向いて歩こう
涙がこぼれないように
思い出す春の日
一人ぼっちの夜
ue wo muite arukou
namida ga koborenai you ni
omoidasu haru no hi
hitoribocchi no yoru

English:
I will walk facing up
so that the tears don't spill out
I remember a spring day / (possibly) the spring day I remember
a lonely night

Emitare:
toriya ö yalu aga
sjirögaturia öse
kevero ö elhinilhe irilhe
lesue esa

walk 1sg[ACT] look-and up[STAT]
spill-NOM-CAUSAL tear[STAT]
remember 1sg[STAT] spring-DESCGEN day-STAT
alone-ATT night
(Age is used like Japanese ue, it's a noun.
Causal case is used to indicate the reason or purpose for something.)

Spanish:

Kexyana:

I hope I understood what the meaning of the Japanese poem, but the English translation could be misleading, who knows?

This is supposed to be the original singer singing it, (a good 25 or 30 years after first making it a hit, AIUI).

Here are the lyrics:
Quote:
Ue Wo Muite Arukou
Words by Rokusuke Ei
Music by Hachidai Nakamura

(I may have the Japanese stanzas out-of-order; sorry.)

Ue wo muite arukou
Nakinagara aruku
Hitori botchi no yoru

Namida ga kobore nai youni
Omoidasu haru no hi
Hitori botchi no yoru

Omoidasu aki no hi
Hitori botchi no yoru

Ue wo muite arukou
Nijinda hoshi wo kazoete
Omoidasu natsu no hi
Hitori botchi no yoru

Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage ni
Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage ni

Shiawase wa kumo no ueni
Shiawase wa sora no ueni
Ue wo muite arokou
Namida ga koborenai youni

Ue wo muite arukou
Namida ga
Kobore nai youni
Nakinagara Aruku
Hitori botchi no yoru
Hitori botchi no yoru

Translation:
I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall. Remembering those happy spring days. But tonight I'm all alone I look up when I walk, counting the stars with tearful eyes. Remembering those happy summer days. But tonight I'm all alone. Happiness lies beyond the clouds. Happiness lies above the sky. I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall. Though my heart is filled with sorrow. For tonight I'm all alone (whistling). Remembering those happy autumn days. But tonight I'm all alone. Sadness hides in the shadow of the stars. Sadness lurks in the shadow of the moon. I look up when I walk so the tears won't fall. Though my heart is filled with sorrow. For tonight I'm all alone.

That music style does NOT go with those lyrics.

Here's a bit better translation (by me ^_^):

Quote:
Ue wo muite arukou / I will walk facing up
Nakinagara aruku / I walk while crying
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night

Namida ga koborenai you ni / so that the tears don't spill out
Omoidasu haru no hi / I remember a spring day
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night

Omoidasu aki no hi / I remember a fall day
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night

Ue wo muite arukou / I will walk facing up
Nijinda hoshi wo kazoete / counting the blurred/smudged stars
Omoidasu natsu no hi / I remember a summer day
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night

Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage ni / sadness is in the shadow/shade of the stars
Kanashimi wa hoshi no kage ni / sadness is in the shadow/shade of the stars

Shiawase wa kumo no ue ni / happiness is above the clouds
Shiawase wa sora no ue ni / happiness is above the sky
Ue wo muite arukou / I will walk facing up
Namida ga koborenai you ni / so that the tears don't spill out

Ue wo muite arukou / I will walk facing up
Namida ga / the tears
Koborenai you ni / so that they don't spill out (it's not weird like this in Japanese, there's just a pause)
Nakinagara Aruku / I walk while crying
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night
Hitoribocchi no yoru / a lonely night

Whoever typed it out doesn't know the conventions for putting spaces in romanized Japanese.

I translated it myself, so as far as I can tell it shouldn't be misleading.

It's a good translation, T_F. (^_^)

And you're right, the music and the lyrics are a bit... clashy. XD He looks so happy, though! Maybe he's trying to make you think positive, or just listen to the music or something...
