Hey!

I've finally gotten around to making a new conscript! It's much different from my other ones already as it's only barely an alphabet. It uses an abugida-like base to form the individual letters, which are combined either horizontally or vertically depending on shape.

There are also separate characters for several grammatical aspects of the language (Aert, I guess): a character for each base pronoun (with modification characters for reflexive, possessive, etc); grammatical aspect and tense, etc.

So far it's working pretty well, I've tested it on some phrases and here are the results:

First phrase: "I might not be going" (16 letters in English; 13 in Aert) -> 11 strokes.
Second phrase: "my friends bought themselves a house" (31 letters in English; 23 in Aert) -> 25 strokes.

Hope you like it! I'll post some more about the grammar aspects in a bit...

Looks nice, but somewhat hard to comprehend. I'm not a master of language terms, so I have to ask - is the method the same or similiar to hangul? At least, it looks like that for me.
Anyway, I'd like to see a key of some sorts, as detailed as possible Wink

Indeed it looks interesting, I like it.

What method do you use for coming up with the semantic glyphs - the ones that mean whole words (like 'friend', 'buy', and 'house' in the second one)?

The glyphs are more or less words, composed of letters. The one for 'friend' was lucky enough to be able to be written vertically, and look extremely like an actual glyph.

As for Hangeul, sort of but not really. Each letter can be placed either below or to the right of the previous letter (read: top-bottom, left-right), but sometimes certain placements are not possible.

Each noun/verb(/adjective?) phrase has a word made of letters, comprising a 'box character' surrounded by the tense, aspect, and other suffix markers, in certain locations. I'll post the details in a while, but unfortunately I am busy right now Sad

I'm not sure at the moment if the hard to comprehend bit is because we're more used to alphabet/abugida etc scripts, or at least characters in a line, without modifiers flanking them. I'm pretty happy with it so far though, though some changes are still likely.

I don't know yet if I'm going to start combining the strokes into a sort of 'cursive' (like cursive Chinese), as that would make it much more difficult to understand, if nicer to look at.

Looks really cool. I really like it.

I'd better stop being lazy and post some of my character-based conscript soon.

Serali's back on the ZBB, so presumably she's coming here soon. Whatever she says is however I feel.

That's neat! Very compact. But it looks like it would take some time to write and read. I can't wait to see the key!
