Ok

First thing you need to know is that my conworld has alot of continents. So far I have decent details on a few:

Opland

Âtrisia

Šeng Ri La

And on these of course there are countries and islands etc. Here are a few:

Opland:

Kastria

Āndāl ( this one I need to make more details on )

And a few more which don't have names at the moment.

Âtrisia:

Asuria

Lensia

The Provence of Kajan ( which is HUGE )

Tamaran

And a bunch of other ones that are not that important right now.

Šeng Ri La:

Think of this one as a con version of Asia. Lots of languages, countries, rich culture ( some of which are based Asian cultures ), and almost every language has a writing system mainly because I love them to death! Here are some of the countries that are a part of Šeng Ri La:

And some of the countries:

Hapoa

Kalangia

Loran

Ŏnyaril

Some of the languages spoken here are: Hapoan, Kalang, Sengali, Käläli, Jibu, Iakani, Vilgish ( also spoken in some parts of Opland ), Tanga Iri ( also spoken in Âtrisia in the country Asuria ).

And of course the cultures are all different. Although I haven written anything on them just yet bu I should get cracking since you would want to know more. So that's it for now I'd better stop typing like this because I think my fingers will fall off in a while! Shocked

lol! Nah just kidding. I love typing and I do it all the time while I'm on the computer for about 10 hours a day! Shocked Ok enough rambling time for some serious stuff:

♥ What do you think of my first post on rambling on about my conworld?

♥ Would like to know more? ( duuuuuh! of course you want to know more! )

♥ Is there any thing specific that you would like to know more about eg the languages or the history of something? ( should start writing some things out tonight )

♥ Did you enjoy reading it?

♥ And last but not least: Boingies to me for doing such a good job! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Mr. Green

Neat.

Not that this need bother you, but just so you know "Kastria" is also a planet referenced in the Dr. Who storyline "The Hand of Fear". It is a world settled by a humanoid silicon-based race, and destroyed by its dictator "Eldrad".

Then again, if we all had to have 100% unique names that don't look like any other name ever invented, none of us would probably have worlds or lands or languages at all...

As for Šeng Ri La, I assume that's a pun on "Shangri La", the mythical perfect place somewhere in a hidden valley in Tibet? The theory is, by the way, that the myth/story of Shangri La is based on the real Kingdom of Ladakh, now backwater a province of China, but once a seriously prosperous and powerful nation, high in the Himalayas, bordering on Kashmir, India, Nepal, and Tibet (I believe).

No I realised the thing about Šeng Ri La and it wasn't a pun. As for Kastria I had no idea since I came up with the name 2 years ago.

Very interesting, I'd love to see a map of it, but it is probably a very tedious job, I'm trying to make one right now! lol

But it's amazing, I'd love to see the culture and languages for the areas.

Gah! I wish I knew how to make decent looking maps! I've tried drawing maps but they aren't that good. I'm not really a drawer. But I do draw insects good. And conscripts! Razz You already know that. But I WILL show you what different species of con insects in my conworld look like.

That'll come soon. And then you can look at them all day long! YAY pretty insects! Mr. Green Oh and I love insects btw that's my second expertise besides conlanging and conscripting. I have tons of books on them and I catch the ones around my "back yard" and bring them home in my bug jar.......

......to show my mommy! Mr. Green Recently I caught a pill bug and my mom let me bring it home and take pics of it crawling on a piece of paper. Also when I go to camp this year which is in High Falls NY I'll get more insect and spider pics for you guys.

I have some from last year that I should be getting developed soon then I'll show them to you and you can translate the names ( after I give them to you ) in your conlangs!

The similarity is striking, though, to say the least.

Unless you're a Dr. Who fan, and probably a pretty avid one, you certainly wouldn't have gotten it there. It was one of the ones filmed in the late 1970's.

Nope not a fan so the name just came to me without me even knowing about the whole Dr. Who thing. I'm keeping it though because I like it. And it's been with me for 3 years.

Actually, another name for the place was Shamballa which was originally settled by a wandering tríbe of Itlani who stayed on Earth after the destruction of the island Itlán. They called the place "Zam Palana" or "Place of Healing" which later became corrupted to the presently known name of Shamballa.

Itlani:

Izmuizhe, tamagit mishtarat idá anara Shambalá onyava kiín mabugizhe kunarit ebay Itlantanarun paleyiva. Pe Siarelan rumbi ta byudemifan ta karfeya Itlán samyaven. Ta anarova Zam Palana mishtaratyaven kiín rumbiizhe ta mishtaratese Shambalá shtinmayiva.

I can thoroughly sympathize with the name problem! In naming the cities on my map of Itlán I kept on finding the names were already used somewhere so I gave up worrying about it!

Also, Serali, I would love to know more about your conbugs. I too am a lover of insects! Insects on rare on Itlán but are held to be sacred there.

Itlani:

Sheri ta bivey ta mishtaratarun kulizhe pelchadalyaru! Ta shatardjaovó zhoyit timeta Itlana mishtaratarizhe ishi enkoshyavu u ta mishtaratú hazá igüayiven dzea. Idakín sheri djurey nashkudorifya fayyavu!

Prundji, Serali, sheri bashit sitdzudzuín arishya vemyanu. Prundji zhoy varemár ta dzudzuarun onyaru! Pe Itlanan ta dzudzuú eylamyaren ruzay izá satapit talshyiren.

Art, wonderful! I'm more of an artist in fact... Hmm... I just do a lot of things, I'm not so keen on insects but I don't go squishing them whenever I see them. But I am an animal lover, my concreatures are animals you'd find on Earth, a little boring but it fits in because they have a culture which is being built upon right now.

I, too, have hit a few of those. I recently found out there is a people group in Pakistan called the Kalash. It happens that the Kálásh is also a major river on the north-east of the main continent on Alurhna.

Likewise, we have Seneká (a city, whose name means "two river-mouths"), like Seneca, NY (and the indian tribe, and the famous roman writer/politician), and Váláqentá (a city and a mountain, whose name means authority-seat/dwelling), like Tolkien's Valaquenta (a story, whose name means Tale of the Valar).

I agree, eventually you just give up and go with the ones that feel right for your world!
