'E's not pinin'!
'E's passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be!
'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff!
Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace!
If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies!
'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig!
'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!
THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!!

No translation prepared yet, but this looks to be quite the challenge. We'll have to create contractions and decide whether to translate literally or use equivalent metaphors.

Here's my go. This is actually correct Raitoliste, so it doesn't have as much the same feel to it. I don't really know how to get the same feel in Raitoliste.

Ua no ovazw!
nua isw! Ua reiki marote dw! Nuw dw!
nua tugasw nua sw ri ezale lhwreoio! Ua z kasw!
Domu, o usw uatzeomi!
Ie ua nua o usiazw merẃtieogi, ne deizir ygasazw!
ri dakatasaz wnaze reini! [I have no idea what this metaphor means]
nua ekasake sedakasazw, nua ugasw reiki udmeogw, ugasw ihakmakeosw, ygathazw iari uihethlemy!!
REIKE UATAMARTE!!

Not the best. It has too good of grammar and stuff. But it works.

(We should have more Monty Python translations...)

That's what I was getting at, TC's like this make you think about contraction and accents and different spelling as there would be in some real languages.

Not knowing Raitoliste, I have to ask: Did you translate things like "kick the bucket" literally, or use Raitoliste euphemisms?

Yes, I agree!! Very Happy

I translated literally. Raitoliste doesn't have any euphemisms just yet.

I know I'm kind of bringing this back from the dead, but I was searching through my folder of conlanging on the weekend and I found this which I had started almost a year ago... looking back at it, it was amazing to see how much my language had changed since then, so I decided to give it another go with the current language.

Here goes...

Vn l kltkrkźntn ślnn!
Čvn bblnrntčllt bblngrtn! Nl fśtrś śpn kltdrnn ślnn! Čvn bblnkntbllt dr!
Dvn bblnźtnllt bkśkn śśk mknnkrn! Vn glnn brdptn!

Lvnśn čn ślhm bblngntllt, thgnśn śśk klwvtśn krbrkśl čbblnkrmtčllt tl, thgnśn dn blhk bblnkrśntllt ślrdntngrtn, thgnśn lnfrtk bkśtknt knlnśr bblnfntmnllt!!
ND KLTDRNN ŚLNN LN FŚTRŚ!!

I'd give you a gloss to go with it, but I added a bunch of new things over the weekend, and I need to work out how to gloss them.

Looks like the "cheerleading" worked! Thanks, that's great!
Any chance of seeing it in your conscript, or is that it already?
Any chance of an interlinear morphemic gloss?
How 'bout a sound file of what it sounds like?
(No pressure.) Wink

Definitely.

Perhaps. I'm not too sure how to gloss abbreviations.
eldin raigmore wrote:

Since I've finally found a good way to get sounds onto my computer, sure!
