Just curious, as I am thinking of making one!
If so, please post them here. I promise I won't print any off _________________ My Website |

Well, since my first conworld was a post-apocalyptic Earth that goes through a second Middle Age it's not weird to find out that the currency of Navrise is the ari (pl. aru) (from euro). At first they were made of silver but once the mines were depleted they started using bills instead, but it doesn't mean there's no one paying a bill with silver coins.
The bills are easier to forge, about half of all the bills are fake. Authorities aren't really concerned about this, they have their methods for spotting forgers and putting them under arrest if really, really needed. Things changed a bit after Bloodwyn I (Myesrines I) was crown as king of Navrise and destroyed a lot of those forged bills. The problem is that he can't consolidated his power over "the nobles" (if they ever were nobles from the very beginning) and the rest of the population... So counterfeiting didn't disappear at all, they just hid very well and continue scamming naive people as much as they wanted. _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

Well, Gwákâ Žhéntrân, being still a fairly primative pre-colonial quasi-settled area for the most part, and also the fact that it is occupied by scores of military units, relies primarily on bartering and independent non-official currencies to get by. Gwákâ, on the other hand, would have some form of official currency, presumably in the form of some sort of coins. Úkbradk'el, being somewhere between those two in terms of development, and also having an extremely socialist totalitarian government, would definitely have a universal currency, however other than that I do not know. _________________ Tôśt drônén kókślán! Most cultures in my conworld will have some form of currency by around 500 (equivalent to about 0ad). |

This is a bit more 'micronation' that 'conworld', but ladies and gentlemen, i present to you, the pōna (pronounced 'poona'):
medot panak tā retafon = bank of the leader of retafon
ŋō donas sēnataref monē qop farage = i promise to pay this amount to the holder
ŋōfe fon ten = freedom of mind (a motto/mantra of retafon) _________________ My Website |

Do retafon citizens find a lot of fake pōna in the streets? I mean, is that a common problem the authorities have to deal with? _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

lol, no idea, haven't thought about it yet!
I guess I could make it harder to forge, but at the same time that'd make it a lot more expensive to print!
I have printed out some. I think I might give some to a busker just to see what they do!
(plural is pōnaq btw - with the q pronounced like a ch in german) _________________ My Website |

Ňor of Æejl - harsh penalties for counterfeiting, so not very common at all. _________________ Iwocwá ĵọṭãsák.

In Emitaru, the kanalh. Normally coinage, so counterfeiting is easy to spot. |

Well in the Middle Age it was a common thing to steal some food so they didn't starve, especially after a Krakatoa volcano eruption... All the robbers should be executed AFAIK and that didn't stop them from stealing food. That's why I guess your conworld inhabitants would still forge some fake money (either bills or coins). Of course I don't know if there's something worse than death penalty in your conworld...

By the way, how do the other bills look like? Are there some 5, 10, 20 or 25, 50 and 100 pōnaq bills?
BTW, I updated my first post... _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

Well counterfeiting is still in Æejl, but it's not something citizens are on constant watch for. _________________ Iwocwá ĵọṭãsák.

Adpihi does. I've worked out the denominations, but haven't worked out much of anything else; exactly what they're worth, what they look like, etc. _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

I have a word for coin: "tỉlsỉt". That's all I've needed up until now, because of the ancient/medieval setting of my conworld. With my new steampunk-esque world I'm planning, though, I suppose I'll have to have a currency, maybe multiple ones! This sounds like fun. _________________ Speak: English, Spanish

Oh, yeah!
Are those swirls behind the orchids or irises (or whatever those flowers are),
meant to be purely floral, or are they parts of some kind of mollusc, like a squid or an octopus,
or what? _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Yes, it's all my own work, but none of it has any significance other than being pretty and yet hard to copy! _________________ My Website |
