How many characters are in your conscript?
16 or fewer?
17 to 64?
65 to 256?
257 to 4096?
4097 to 65536?
More than 65536?

(In case the numbers look weird to you, they're powers of 2.
2^2=4
2^4=16
2^6=64
2^8=256
2^12=4,096
2^16=65,536
2^24=16,777,216
2^32 > 4096 million)

Adpihi's script could have up to 2^28 ~~ 256 million characters, but it doesn't have that many; there's some redundancy.

Do the number of characters include capitals?

Yes; anything a computerized typesetting or "handwriting" system would have to distinguish.
So; "MAJUSCULE or UPPERCASE" from "minuscule or lowercase"
If you have a third case, say so.
Stand-alone vs word-initial vs word-final vs word-medial, if some of your characters have all four forms different from each other
(UpperCase shouldn't have word-final or word-medial, usually; if it does say so.)
The idea is to figure out how many bits it would take to represent a character in your conscript.

Holxûs:
19 consonants, 8 vowels, 1 voicer dot, an arc-shaped diacritic, 5 punctuation.
Total: 34

Cohkao(new one, to replace Nzoegao):
EDIT AGAIN: It now has 30 letters, 1 diacritic, 2 punctuation
Total: 33

Kae:
Nothing on paper presently. It's going to use "logograph blocks", so each root would have a character, and these are combined into blocks to form the words. So, that would mean A LOT of characters.

Aert: Romanization: 41 + capitals = 82 (26 base letters, 15 accented letters), although 2 are rarely used.
Punctuation: the usual, so I guess 7
Numerals 0-9
Total: 99

Aert script: (no capitals) 45 (4 nasal vowels on their way out).
Punctuation: 6 so far: apostraphe, brackets, hyphen, long hyphen, and a number indicator, which may be on it's way out.
No official numbers yet, the letters are used with the number indicator alongside them to say this is a number, not a word Wink
Total: 51

It's confusing to count for Raitolïiihøste.

There are 4 vowel letters (which are notably smaller than the consonants but don't quite count as 'diacritics') and a symbol indicating rounding, but the vowels can be combined with each other to create what amount to single glyphs.

Consonants are facing one way to be unvoiced, flipped to be voiced, and a little sort-of-diacritic-but-sort-of-not-thingy is added to indicate nasal.

I would count only the vowels and not the combinations. I would not count the flipped glyphs separately. The nasal thing and the rounding symbol both count, IMO. Interesting system!

Kuropi:126

Talari: 30

Namari: 37

Tali: 39

Thanks! That puts it at 16. (Yay for minuscule phonologies!)

Lorošae has 54 phonemes, the period, and a gaggle of other morpheme characters and logographs for very common words. I estimate that 200 of those exist.

Did a new one I hope to get onto the computer sometime Wink that has a total of 5150. The vowels modify a base consonant: short vowels are diacritics/accents, and middle/long vowels are additions on the side of the consonant. The side determines where in the word the long vowel comes. Theoretically it's possible to have 4 sounds in a character, but these are rarer (it would also increase the total to 65000.)

Were you the one who voted "more than 65536"? And is this the script for which you so voted?

Nope, I voted 65-256 because that's the one I'm mainly using right now. I don't know who did the <65536 vote

I'd also like to see Aert's script that has <=256 characters.

As for whoever has >65536 characters, well, maybe you'd better just kind of explain them somehow.

(For instance, maybe you have 86 top thirds, 86 middle thirds, and 86 bottom thirds. Or, 86 left thirds, 86 middle thirds, and 86 right thirds. Or, 29 upper left quarters, 29 upper right quarters, 29 lower left quarters, and 29 lower right quarters. Or some such thing.)

Actually, if anyone has <100 characters I'm sure we'd all like to see all of them; if anyone has >1000 characters I think probably we wouldn't all like to see all of them; and in between, I'm not sure.

I posted my 65-256 character script earlier ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/28228492@N05/ Chamr).

I'll write out a couple examples of the 5150 character script (so as not to overwhelm anyone including me Wink ). It's a simple idea, it's just putting everthing together that gives a wide range of possibilities.

Yes please! And I had no idea that Chamr was the 65-256 character one. So I assume that they're either more letters to the script or the letters form characters no?

Pretty scripties! Mr. Green

OOOOOOOOOOOH! Pretty scripty! I love it. And we all forget our passwords to websites once in a while. I should know since I've done it more then I can count. Would like to see samples.

That's why I have a little notebook that I keep them all in now so I won't forget. I'm a genius! Mr. Green
