Serali has been asking for some of these for months. So I decided I would finally get around to scanning and posting some stuff. Some of this is also from a recent "archeological dig" I did at my parents' house, where I unearthed examples of some conlangs I did when I was in my early teens (*many* years ago, now...).

So here goes...

This is the one Serali has been asking for most. Below is the Asketan script, which is written top to bottom, right to left. This is just the list of characters. I should observe this is actually an Alurhsa version, so to speak, used in modern times as a decorative script for Alurhsa in and around the region of Asketana on the southern coast of the main continent. The original does not show vowel length distinctions and didn't contain all the consonants needed for writing the Alurhsa language.

Next is a doodle I did one day, with a Coca-Cola can sitting in front of me. Below is the Coca-Cola logo as it would appear in the Alurhsa, Vsul, and Asketan scripts (if they sold Coke on Alurhna, which thankfully they do not...).

Next we have an example text in the Vsul script. The language is Tariatta, which is vaguely related to Alurhsa, but with far, far less sound distinctions and a relatively simplified grammar.

Now we move into the things from the Archeological Dig. First is a money (I think it's a 5-whatever bill) that I made as a young teen. The language is Karlonese (or in its native name, Qualonse). The script is, in my opinion, quite cool looking. The language is, unfortunately, totally bogus. It is a relex of English, and worse, the words are mostly English words, reversed and munged. But I was about 12 when I made it, and it was my very, very first conlang (so to speak). Alurhsa followed later when I was 13 almost 14, so I think I can be excused. I can read the words, but am not sure what some of them mean. For example, I *think* this is a 5-whatever bill, but that's only if the word "'éval" means "five". The top reads "Kanab ko Aurla" otherwise known as "Bank of Aluria". So you see what I mean about the language. Embarassed

The list of words below is in a language and script I called Tyrollian (before I knew there was a Tyrol in Austria Embarassed) and which I might call Taralsa today. It's sort of semi-Celtic/semi-Romance with heavy Alurhsa influence, and some Karlonese influence on the alphabet. For example, the N is the same as Karlonese, but the M is the same as Alurhsa.

And finally, this last image is a newspaper I did, probably when I was somewhere around 13, in a language I then called Sinclaresian. I remember doing the language (barely), but unfortunately don't remember the meanings or the values of the letters. It is Hebrew based, as in consonant letters with vowel signs beneath. However, from the punctuation I believe it's written left to right, not right to left. And what it says is a mystery at this point. Sad

Let me know what you all think!

I absolutely adore Vsul as it is one of the best right-to-left and Arabic-like conscript I have ever seen! Well done! ^_^ I am pleased by your amazing scripts, however old and 'bogus' it is. Thank you for sharing them.

I have, but have not yet mastered either FontCreator Pro or Fontographer (I have both) enough to do a right-to-left connected script.

Maybe someday. First, though, I want to produce a *clean* version of the Alurhsa font.

Dlúfázen = boingy. From dlúfâ (to hop) + -áz- (repetative) + -en (one of many general noun-productive suffixes).

Asketan reminds me of Ogham script.
I like the Archaeological Dig one; it looks like it really was dug up. If you look at Yahoo!'s "neographies" group, someone there has done something I think you would like to do; by using software they've managed to take such a thing a step further.
I need to get the time to say more. Later.

In my case, "archeological dig" refers to the fact that I went scrounging through my old closet and the cellar at my parents' house (where I have not lived for 22 years now) and found some of my early conlanging work.

I did script hunting this weekend and I found alot of stuff. Scans of them will come as soon as my scanner problem gets fixed. You will have to wait a while because my mom is getting me ready for camp. I'm leaving July 18th and I'm happy!

I go every year.

Akestan does look like Ogham! ^_^ Interesting.

For the 'step further' did they tea-stain it and maybe burn the edges? I believe Guitarplayer, the creator of Ayeri did that. It looks beautiful!

Serali... you always have scanner dilemmas! LOL! Let's hope it gets fixed soon! Smile

That's not the "step further" I had in mind, but I remember that, and I agree it was beautiful; if you want to use off-computer hardware techniques, that's one, very good, way to go a step further.
The one I'm thinking of looked like it was hammered into bronze -- kind of bas-relief.

Oh yes, that is a really nice way to do it! Quite interesting in fact. I may try and do it when I get some time.
