All the special characters have been replaced with question marks, even simple things like acute accents and umlaut marks and all those other things. Is this an issue in my computer, or is it a sign of something much deeper? _________________ Tiedämme missä asut.

That's happening to me too!
Strangely enough, diacritics and such don't show up, but greek/japanese/cyrillic characters show just fine.

I'm on a different computer than I normally use, but I was typing diacritics fine in MSWord and they're all boxes here.

I don't have any trouble as long as I remember to select "Auto-Select" from "View:Encoding".
But sometimes I have to activate something from "View:Encoding:More".
Just now I saw boxes while on Unicode; but when I activated "View:Encoding:Auto-Select" it went to Western European (Windows) and I saw the diacritcs OK. _________________ Therefore love the child who holds your hand; and let your wife delight in your embrace; for this is the lot of mankind to enjoy:

Yeah, that works. I'm using IE right now, so I have to click it for every page.
Weird, though - diacritics on the CBB work fine. _________________ 'We are the knights who say, "に!"'

elden: Thanks! That worked.
Aeetlcreejl: Some sort of problem with unicode, I guess. Don't really know enough about computers to say for sure. _________________ The past sure is tense... |

Don't really know enough about computers to say for sure. | I expect the bboard has been set up to default to Unicode; but the diacritics such as the accented "a" at the end of Vreleksa are in Western European (Windows) rather than in Unicode.
This problem doesn't at the moment occur exactly this way on any of the other bboards I'm on, and I'm on five others, including another conscript one, three other conlanging ones, and two conworlding ones. _________________ Therefore love the child who holds your hand; and let your wife delight in your embrace; for this is the lot of mankind to enjoy:

It's working fine for me right now, except for the characters in Hemi's signature. I'm using Netscape, so I assume that it would be the same for firefox. I don't know if the encoding makes a difference on gecko browsers or not. _________________ Tôśt drônén kókślán! Vón kríngénã Tôśt! Gâgén šníkél dér îwâ! |
