|
I made something like a banjo for the music I am making which will feature my conlang and musical elements (scales, etc) from my conworld.
It's basically a biscuit tin, some wood, and nylon fishing wire for the strings. I also have many other instruments planned. Let me know what you think!

(Maybe this belongs elsewhere. Feel free to move it if so...) _________________ My Website |

OHH!! I like it. How did you get the strings to stay on the tuning pegs? _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

Can you maybe get some sound samples? I never heard fishing wire used as a string. _________________ Bakram uso, mi abila, / del us bakrat, dahud bakrita! |

I think some west african Koras use fishing wire. Anyway, here is a recording of me playing (or trying to play) my instrument!

i drilled holes through the middle of the pegs, and put the strings through these holes. I then tied the string to itself. However, in the last few days, the pegs have been slipping as i guess the pegs are getting worn down. I have put pins in the holes to keep them in place. This means i can now tune it up properly. I have tuned the strings to A, E, A, C, and the 'frets' i drew on there are pentatonic from E, making some interesting and weird sounding scales!

This is great!
Not only is that instrument itself good work, dusepo;
it's also worth congratulating you on how you posted it to us! _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Wow, the sound is really great! ^_^ You'd guess that it was just some odd instrument, not one self-made. I like it. |

AWESOME!
The pot resonator really gives some unique sound, especially on chords. _________________ Bakram uso, mi abila, / del us bakrat, dahud bakrita! |

A question:
If I have my own instruments, should I post here or start a new thread? _________________ Bakram uso, mi abila, / del us bakrat, dahud bakrita! |

It doesn't matter really.
I would personally make my own thread, just because I wouldn't want to thread-jack dusepo. _________________ Join us at: The Renewed Spirits Forum!

It seems i am finally getting the hang of playing my instrument, lol. Here is a recording of me and my brother jamming with my instrument and a miniature Oud that my parents brought back from a holiday in Tunisia.
