Culture:
Much of Raitoli'ri culture is obsessed with dignity and elegance. Most architecture, objects, and art are - no matter how functional - aesthetically pleasing (eublepic?) and curved (the script is designed this way). [More to come once I figure out how to say it.]
Government:
yssida's system of selecting rulers is the same as mine, and he said it a lot better than I could, so I'm quoting him:

That's the way most government officials are elected, though the lordship of the province of Sonitomira is hereditary.
Government is organized this way:

'Mayor' of provincial capital (also 'lord')

'Mayor' of smaller cities = representative to Provincial Assemblies (also 'lords') |
The provincial governor essentially acts as a mini-Emperor in everything except that the Emperor presides over the Imperial Assembly, but the Lord of the provincial capital presides over his particular Provincial Assembly.

So far what we have for history:
Meneriwat [post-transfer edit: Kilaseme] invades the land that is now Raitoli.a and the Padanai (yssida's demonym) homeland (north of Raitolïa along the eastern coast), and after a period of occupation (of currently undefined length) the people of Padan and Raitolïa revolt successfully and become what is now the nation of Raitolïa.
As you can tell, it's far from detailed. |

Random thoughts:
-The main emphasis of Raitoli'ri culture is on elegance. Everything around them reflects that - their architecture is vastly dominated by curves, normal, cheap household items have intricate patterns detailed on them, even their language has been specifically designed for euphony (yes, even in the conworld it's a conlang).

Since the US presidential primaries are going on, thought I'd cover Raitolïa's elections.
-The Emperor or the Assembly can call an election, the Emperor if he thinks he needs to leave, or the Assembly if they think he needs to leave (or if he dies).
-The candidates are given a month to campaign before election day (all voting is on the same day), then everyone votes. The person with the most people who voted for him (no delegates or weirdness) wins.
-It is illegal to take a poll of voters before the official results are released, so as not to affect outcome by 'herd mentality' voting or by voting against people rather than for them.
