What role do fish have in your conworld? In my conworld some of the most intelligent beings are fish and dolphins, so they have a larger role than in other societies.

On Adpihi people don't count mammals as fish.
Seafood of various kinds are quite important, both because certain nutritional needs are best met by seafoods, and because certain food-borne illnesses are most easily caught by seafoods.
But fish are also important both in keeping down certain pests and in making certain soils more fertile.
As for cetacians and sirenians and so on, on Adpihi it is controversial exactly how intelligent they are. When they are abundant they are hunted; when not, pressure not to hunt them grows.

As for Reptigan, it is a multi-species alliance; there may be some intelligent species in it which are very fish-like, though most have endoskeletons (like vertebrates), are warm-blooded, and have some kind of gestational arrangement like placental mammals.

We eat fish too, but they also have rights set down by the Laws, because their intelligence level is like that of a human, and they demanded rights.

Fish are considered sacred in my conworld. But they are eaten too but not over hunted. They also have their own native species as well as the ones on Earth.
