the question is...
what is your guys' religions and do they play into the making of your conlangs/conscripts/conworlds? i personally am roman catholic and sometimes it plays in but most the time it doesn't. (i guess i should really make it play in more though, since it IS my religion). |

| I'm a Pagan, ^_^. And it does actually play in my conculture. They are also animals so I guess nature would play quite an important part in their lives. |

wow what is it like to be pagan? (i'm assuming that you're wiccan, so "what is it like to be wiccan?) just curious because as a catholic we really arent aloud to go out of bounds much... unless of course we go to confession afterwords.

| I used to be a Wiccan, but now I am more of a Pagan because I found Wicca a bit too "crazy", with all of the spells and stuff which I never did perform. I feel that I should celebrate the cycle of nature, of the moon, sun and Earth. And it is actually really nice because I always try to appreciate the beauty of nature and how much it has given us. |

I was raised Methodist. (That's a kind of Protestant, which is a kind of Christian. Actually Methodism descends from the Anglican Church ("Episcopal" in the U.S.), which broke away from the Roman Catholic Church about the same time as Protestantism; technically, maybe, it's not Protestant, but any Western Christian denomination which isn't Roman Catholic is usually called Protestant.)
I was schooled with Muslims and Hindus and Buddhists and many kinds of Christians.
My conworld/conculture is definitely highly influenced by this; they have many religions, all monotheistic, all of which are based on a personal relationship with God.
The biggest event in the conhistory is basically 9/11 over again. Most of my conpeople are very tolerant religiously; the ones who aren't cause a problem.
Since my late or middle twenties I have been an atheist.

But until 9/11/2001 I was pretty tolerant of religion.
Since then I have decided that certain aspects of some religions are evil. That includes belief in Heaven and/or Hell as eternal rewards or punishments; belief in an afterlife that is reward or punishment; and belief in a God who is a judge and knows who is good and who is evil.
The problem is with those tenets that lead a believer to think "Kill them all; God will sort them out."
Most religious ideas I still have no problem with. For instance; that it's our duty to make Earth as much like a Heaven as possible (some kinds of Judaism); and reincarnation, a kind of life-after-death (Hinduism and Buddhism), provided it isn't seen as a reward or punishment. |

confession is where you tell all of your sins to god and they are forgiven. (this of course is done through a priest.)
catholics believe that there is definitely a difference between god and satan. for instance, god IS NOT a judge and people only go to hell because they say, in a sense, "sorry god, im sure heaven is really nice, but its just not for me". god sees all people as equals and does not have any prejudice if you are another religion, because all religions have a way to lead to the one god. for instance, hinduism has many gods, but they believe that they are all the incarnation of the the one god that is the creator. and by the way, 9/11 was not created by god. SATAN CREATES ALL EVIL ON THIS EARTH! and i cant stress that enough. people also have an influence on evil on this earth and how it is created. if you find your own god- center, then you WILL go to heaven, as long as you only do good, and no evil.

| In Wicca and most likely in Paganism, there is no Satan or Hell, instead we believe in the Law of Return which states that 'no matter what you do, good or bad, it will come back to you threefold'. And so, there is no need for Satan or for Hell because we would be punished on Earth already if we have done bad. Also, we have Summerland which is the afterlife, the place we go to before we are re-incarnated upon Earth. |

i do believe that is a good rule and i think that is true in reality. but the reason that catholics have satan is because we want people to know that he is always around and if you keep away from him, then you will not have to go under punishment at all.

I would prefer this thread be in Random Chat instead of Conworlds, since it definitely breaks the "No Cross No Crown" rule. I think Random Chat is the right forum for threads about real-life religion or real-life politics (as opposed to conreligion and conpolitics.) |
