Sorry I haven't been around much. I haven't had the energy to conlang at all. I need a vacation.

Hi - I'm still around, but very rarely nowadays! I'm glad to you there are still some of you here.

I haven't done any conlanging or conscripting at all for a good few years now. Crying or Very sad

Hi, StrangeMagic! I've been missing you muchly for a longish while now; I assume the same is true of the rest of us.
Anything you want to tell us, or want to ask us? You could either guess at what we'd want to know, or ask what you want to know, or both.

I'll update you guys a little first.

I've now spent over a year working in HK as a tutor, and the talk about languages still comes up every now and again, which is always a lot of fun. However, my main focus is on English literature, rather than the language, so I haven't been doing as much study as I used to in linguistics.

Today though, I did look back at some of my conlanging/conworlding/story-writing efforts, and was surprised at how much I had created back in 2008. I think once I have more time, I would love to reignite that and continue from where I left off as a teen.

How have you guys been? What are your currents projects/passions? I hope you have all had wonderful holidays!

Thanks for the update! Sounds interesting.
You're looking at English literature? What periods? From which countries/continents/etc.? Which genres?

My current major project is capitalizing on my stomach surgery; losing weight, exercising, eating the right diet, and eventually buying all new clothes. Not very interesting from a conlanging/conworlding/conscripting perspective.

I have made what I think might be some progress on the Adpihi writing system. Haven't put any of it online yet, though. So that's something I want to do.

Yeah, I'm looking at English literature, but also some literature in translation. Since I'm tutoring, it changes every day - I might be looking at just simple extracts one day to help the younger students pass their private school entry exams, or I might be looking at Zola's Therese Raquin. At the moment, some of the key things are Golding's Lord of the Flies, McCarthy's The Road, and William's The Streetcar Named Desire.

Aww, at least you see the positive side of the surgery! I hope you're recovering well and manage to achieve your goals.

I would love to see what you've done with the writing system! Please do post it up when you have the time.

Happy New Year, by the way! =D

William's The Streetcar Named Desire.

The article should be "A", not "The", I think?
….
I never read nor saw Cormac McCarthy's "The Road". I should look into it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
….
(Note that changing the article from definite to indefinite on most of those other titles wouldn't work. "Lord of a Fly"? "A Road"? I don't think so. Not even "Arese Raquin".)

I have to locate (and purchase?) and download something that will let me write/draw the characters on the computer. Do you have any recommendations?

Hello all. Had my much needed vacation and now I'm back! Much rested, I feel wonderful. Also, I have obtained a copy of The Thing Explainer, which I will be translating into probably ddamychal first since it's easiest, or possibly a couple pages apiece in my most developed languages. What I'd like to do is scan each page and replace the English with conlang, but I'm not sure if the author is okay with that so I'm going to try to contact him first. If he doesn't get back to me it might turn into more of a list thing. But here goes! I'll try my very best to make weekend updates.

Hey people!

I'm back after a while (a few years long while indeed). I've been busy with web design and a bit with game developing as an amateur. So I've been busy scripting here and there in HTML, CSS, Javascript and Ruby. I'll try to get a grasp on Ruby on Rails but I can't promise you anything yet.

I guess the author would think "WTF? What happened to this guy/gal?". Not often you would get such an unusual permission to translate any work to a conlang.

BTW, I lost my conscript file, I've been searching for it. Man, I liked that kay character I included in my Kemeryo. So I was thinking about making a new one by hand drawing every single character. Actually I already managed to write down the Kera character in a few (partially) different styles. Let's hope I get some time to scan it.

Good to read from you again, Ky.

I won't repeat what I said when I replied to your P.M.; just, that response applies to this post, too.

Well, I already uploaded a scanned version of kera (kay) in a few different versions. (Different font styles?)

Since I've been dealing with scripts, I released a small demo made with some old fasion game maker software to show off a new game script and guess what? There are several localizations, the languages included are English, Spanish, German and yes, my conlang Kexyana.

I even invited a fellow game maker and conlanger to upload his own translation of my demo in any of his two or three conlangs but I haven't got any response from him so far.

Actually that conlanger told me a while ago that he was unsure to translate it because terms like file didn't exist yet in his conlang. Later on he started explaining how the term derives from a Latin word for string. At the end he might have added another word to his own dictionary. Even so there is no guarantee he will translate it as per request.

Regarding the fellow conlanger and his game project or my request about him translating a project to his conlang I have nothing new to tell you about. (Sadly?)

On the other hand I found a weird programming misconception, a forumer was troubled by a serious issue, he could not activate a variable even if he was "following instructions found on a videotutorial". Could it be only because switches are supposed to be activated instead of variables? I still don't know whether or not he will ever make a strict distinction between both concepts.
