So I know I haven't nearly finished the Grammar for Se'Ku - that is my main work at the moment, but I've put together some basic ideas for what I want my next one to be like.
It will probably look Latinate, due to a subject-agreement/case system on verbs and a pretty free word order. The word order used by the speaker will be specifically to topicalize/emphasize the elements of interest, eg:
Peter slept [on the bed] SVO subject-verb relationship
Peter [on the bed] slept SOV Subject-object relationship
[on the bed] Peter slept OSV object topicalization
[on the bed] slept Peter OVS object topicalization
slept Peter [on the bed] VSO verb-prominent? subject-verb relationship
slept [on the bed] Peter VOS [dissociation of verb and subject]
Although of course this is very preliminary, I think it will also be VSO underlyingly due to the relationship between elements.
This one will Not be logical in the way that Se'Ku is, and neither will it allow for the same kind of word derivation (although there definitely will be derivational structures, just different).
I'm thinking about using lenition for morpho-phonology, like in Irish, and am considering how to design a vowel-reduction system if possible. I'm not yet sure if I want it to be more agglutinative or fusional.
Anyways, I'll get back to Se'Ku, and should have the first (intro) chapter up within two weeks, if all goes well. |
