Well... since I couldn't find it looking through the translations, and since I can use it to illustrate the difference between registers in Aalmok, I figured I'd go ahead and do this Universal Declaration of Human Rights thread.

All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

Formal register (used with strangers and one's superiors):

.teta aďīs boisais medal mimal xumās myekir..fensais yamā hekuznā;e denaakadzais wodir.
all person-PL being.born-VBZ.3.PL freedom-GEN.SG same-GEN.SG worth-ADV.SG right-ADV.PL endowment-VBZ.3.PL logic-ACC.SG PFV-understanding-ACC.SG and RECP-treatment-JUS-VBZ.3.PL sibling-ADV.PL

Informal register (used with family and close friends):

.teta aďīš boisais medal e mimal xumās e myekir..fensais yamā e hekuznā;e daiyais naakon eipanir mi wodza.
all person-PL being.born-VBZ.3.PL freedom-GEN.SG and same-GEN.SG worth-ADV.SG and right-ADV.PL endowment-VBZ.3.PL logic-ACC.SG and PFV-understanding-ACC.SG and obligation-VBZ.3.PL treatment-VBZ.INF each.other-ADV.PL as sibling-DAT.PL

There is also a superformal register wherein all case endings are written in full and all verb modifications that can be used are necessarily used. Register isn't totally exact, however, there's a progression between each of the aforementioned ones.

Do any of your languages have differing registers? If so, what would the above look like in the different registers

Very good! Thanks for starting this thread. Cool

Looks nice.

Yes; and genres and dialects, too.

My registers are not honorifics and humilifics; they're simply formal and informal, work and leisure, religious and secular, public and intimate, etc. So there's nothing about talking to a superior or an inferior or an equal.

Genres include folk-tales, children's stories, fatherly advice, commencement addresses, sermons, coaches' pep-talks, etc.

I regret that I cannot answer that yet.

Since Aalsen is an intended IAL, I can't control what any of these are gonna look like outside of formality. Genre is largely based on what "sounds good" in any given context. i.e., certain word combinations and phraseology are like to fit a different feeling. Such phraseology is highly subject to change and, as such, the way Aalsen ends up looking in any given situation will be entirely up to the people who speak it.

The rules I set forth only exist for the purpose of stabilization, to give just enough rule to give words stronger and more unique meaning and give people something to work from.

Also, just to say it again, the words in any of the above clauses can me moved around in any way, as long as the words that are grammatically tied to one another remain in the proper position, relative to their referents.

Unfortunately the spacing doesn't work here, but here's the morphemic analysis for my conlang 'Śee-ė- Ḱu' (being described in the "Logical Languages" thread under Conlangs).

Damn, some of those words are hard to parse (especially with a ground-up logical word derivation system)!

I like it, Aert.
Any chance anyone can post a sound recording?
How about writing it out in their con-script?

I can put up the orthographic and phonological representations once I have all the root words in the lexicon Razz

I'll try to do a sound file, but don't treat it as definitive given that I probably won't pronounce it exactly as intended (especially with the stress patterning).

EDIT: translation is up. I'll see about trying to pronounce it...
