Whenever I visit a phpbb based forum I can see how many new topics or replies are currently available as anybody else does but if I don't check any topic at all. When I come back on the next day I'm not able to distinguish what's new and what's evidently not unless I carefully look at the posting time stamp. All the new topic or new reply icons disappear and get replaced by no new ones automatically. Is this normal? Should this happen every 24 hours or so? I think it's quite weird because it doesn't let me check the new postings in a timely fashion...

| I bet it considers posts 'read' if you've left the forum since seeing them posted - i.e. if you visit the forum and they're new, then you leave, and then come back, it doesn't consider them new anymore even if you didn't read them. |
