I learned Korean for work so I probably could stumble my way through some young adult fiction. I think the first book is maybe 200 pages tops, in simple language. If not the whole book I could probably do at least the spells. Could be fun. _________________ I have some small knowledge of:

Hello, I'm still around every now and again.
I've been occasionally getting emails about new people wanting to join the forum. However, as some of you might remember, there was a big problem with bots, so I disallowed a whole bunch of usernames. Unfortunately, I am now unable to un-disallow them, which means I can't add any more new people. Does anyone know how we might be able to solve this. |

Hey there, StrangeMagic!
Good to hear an Admin still lurks around!

No idea. All I could find after a couple minutes of searching is this page mentioning an Admin Control Panel I would recommend looking through if you haven't already, as well as an e-mail with which you can contact BizHat (info@bizhat.com).
If it wouldn't disclose any vital information, I could suggest that you post a picture of pages such as the aforementioned Admin Control Panel or any other you think might have the settings necessary to rectify the problem so that I or another forum member might be able to help you find a solution. _________________ Fluent or nearly fluent in: English, Japanese, German

I posted a response on your new topic that has an O.P. about like the above. (Random Chat: Announcement: Back Up and Migrate?)

What he said.
Also;
There's a page about how to contact BizHat (like LingoDingo said).
There's a page about how to back up the bboard (like you said in your announcement).
There's a page with FAQs.
@StrangeMagic:
You could appoint LingoDingo, or me, or both, as moderators, and let us try to help.
(Might be better to appoint us one at a time, though, so we won't trip over each other's d***s --- uh, I mean, feet!)
If she agrees, you could appoint achemel first. (She's less likely IMO to do something for anyone else to trip over.) _________________ "We're the healthiest horse in the glue factory" - Erskine Bowles, Co-Chairman of the deficit reduction commission |

Well, I posted a minor update regarding Kexyana, my first conlang. By the way, I do think I lost my notes on my second conlang that was name G something. It was supposed to be some sort of dwarves' language or I would also make it spread among humans living in the mountains that might encounter dangerous dwarves on their way home or so. _________________ Seos nivo adgene Kizne tikelke

I haven't contributed anything of late but I just watched "Arrival" and the language concepts were really kind of fantastic. The movie was incredibly slow but that's probably because it needed to be all dramatic for people who aren't really interested in linguistics. I would recommend at least looking at the language part of it and see what you think - myself, the movie was too drawn-out for me to say it's really really worth watching all the way through. _________________ I have some small knowledge of:

How are all of you doing?
There have been a couple of times where Bizhat have suspension see the forum, but thankfully after sending them an email, they were able to restore the forum. It has been quite a while since anyone last posted, but I do hope to keep the forum alive, at least for archives sake. But please make copies of your important posts, just in case Bizhat really suspend the forum for good. |

I got a message from Bizhat which says we need to have at least one message every 30 days. I'll try my best to keep that up to stop it from getting shut down. |

That was a good idea to save posts. I have limited backups of my time conlanging, and I do hope I can get back into it at some point.
Haven't been in for a few months myself, but maybe I'll try to help keep the forum alive too _________________ Fluent or nearly fluent in: English, Japanese, German

I'm glad to hear you're still around LingoDingo. What have you been doing lately?
I'm still tutoring English Literature and it's currently the summer holidays, so students have been coming in batches. Some of them go on holiday first before coming for some tuition, and others do the opposite, so it has been pretty busy.
I went back home to the UK just before the summer holiday and rediscovered a lot of my conlanging attempts. Eleypherion was for a novel I was writing with my sister, but with high school and university, we slowly lost motivation to continue with it. It's still very nice to see how creative we were back then though! |

Wow... Time goes by so fast. Last time I logged in was back in 2015 or some time earlier. Goodness!
I've been conlanging a bit more lately, fleshing out the rules of one of my language, while planning 2 more for my conworld. Progress is always good, I suppose, even if it is slow. But slow and steady is better than nothing. _________________ Languages spoken:

Yikes! I hadn't realized it had been this long since I dropped by here. Over half a decade!
Since well before my last visit here, I havent had time at least, not concurrently with energy to make anything worth posting; but some of the posts Ive read here in the past continue to stoke my enthusiasm for conscriptery even after all this time. Awesomeness never truly gets dusty. :¬) _________________ The worlds only gsteemso |

It appears there were no new posts between Cordelier (Nov 2018) and gsteemso (Jul 2019), and then again between gsteemso and me in the Conlangs subforum (a few days ago, Oct 2020). So by experimentation I think we can determine it was a bit of an empty threat.
It's fascinating to see this forum is still working completely fine. The phpBB software should be very old now, and it should be showing plenty of bugs due to requiring old PHP functionality (the ZBB's old forum location stopped working months ago due to this, and that was using a much more recent phpBB version than Vreleksį is!). It appears the forum's server either hasn't updated its PHP version, or BizHat is actually keeping that old-ass PHP version for the sake of us and probably a few other websites. It is strange magic, you could say!
My last post, and maybe my last login, before the post I made a few days ago in Conlangs, was in 2009... |

Hopefully this means bizhat has stopped pressuring StrangeMagic. It's shame I haven't been able to keep up my motivation for conlanging/conworlding; but it's become nostalgic to come back here from time to time, so I'm happy to see it didn't get closed down after all.
It's also good to see that you're doing well achemel and hopefully Neqitan still as well! My family and I have made it thus far safely too.
And I'm sorry I never replied to you, StrangeMagic. Hope you're still doing well. It's cool to see that you worked with your sister on one of your conlangs. For me, this forum is really the only place I interacted with anyone sharing an interest on the subject (which might help explain why I wasn't able to keep my motivation up in the long run). I do still study natural languages quite a bit though; especially Japanese, which I am now much more fluent in that I am German, even though I took 12 years of courses in the latter and only 2 in the former. Otherwise I'm not up to anything very interesting these days. Haven't been able to find a real passion yet *shrug*.
Hope everyone else is doing well too. I'd especially like to hear from eldin again, it's now been over 5 years since his last post and he practically carried the forum on his back for the 5 years prior to that. _________________ Fluent or nearly fluent in: English, Japanese, German
