It's interesting the sorts of words you can come up with when you've got the feel of your language, isn't it? (^_^) I have tons of culture-related terms and verbs, and also a lack of them - like "beauty/beautiful" in Hemnalg - because such words just wouldn't exist. I do like to have as many basic words as possible, though, even if I have to mark them as "borrowed word/concept" in my dictionary.

ō_ō
You don't have a word for 'beautiful'? Why not? That's a pretty strange culture to not have a word like that.

The people don't have a sense of human beauty... or, kyllahän beauty. They don't look at someone we would think is beautiful and say, "Whoa! S/he's hawt!" Now, if that person was fit-looking and healthy there might be sexual attraction, as the person could be a good candidate as a mate, but physical beauty doesn't register. There is, however, a sense of natural beauty, and that is the feeling you might get when you see a fantastic sunset or a massive thunderstorm, or cranes dancing or a waterfall, or anything else that makes you feel the world is a good place. You could, I suppose, use the term for that feeling to describe human beauty as well, but for the kyllahän it would be rather insulting to use it on a person and in doing so compare him/her to nature as a whole. They're completely separate in their mind.

That's a really cool idea. I like it!

'Kyllahän' looks amazingly Finnish. Probably because of the -hän.

Okay, I have now translated 1040 words. There's stilll 1453 words to go though, so I'll try and do as much as I can before I have to go back to school.

The 1040 words is shorted to 675 words. However, the characters for the English is 4643 whereas for Eleypherion it is 4675.

28th August: 1119 words left to go.
29th August: 892 words to go.
30th August: 598 words left. =D

Man I need to catch up Wink !

EDIT: I finally have a pronunciation guide for the title Very Happy

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28228492@N05/3857553859/

The character map doesn't have an epsilon-breve, so I had to make a pictre Sad

I don't know if you can technically use a combining diacritic from a consonant to vowel, but the sounds actually are pronounced at the same time.

I'm still not sure on the χ though - it should be more palatalized, and I was going to guess it was a velar fricative, not uvular. Actually, the sound is halfway between [ç] and [χ], so I don't know. Any suggestions?

EDIT again: I think the [χ] should have a curly tail. So far the closest IPA sound I've found is [ɕ]

There - I fixed the IPA thing (at least the annoying breve problem).

And I think [χj]* is actually the right description. *superscript, again, because the palatalization along with combining diacritic actually express the sound quite well.

The problem is, I can't post dejavusans text on here, so it's pretty much moot for typing. I did however get to type it on word, so yeah..

I've done it, finally!

1647 words in Eleypherion from the 2493 in English. (Ooops! Thanks for pointing it out, Aert)

10,999 characters (no spaces) in Eleypherion from the 11015 characters (no spaces) in English. So there wasn't much difference there.

I don't have a gloss for it though. >_< It will take me forever to write it.

Anyways, congrats! I still haven't done much with it, thanks for continuing to spur me on Very Happy

I'm at 430 words Sad I keep getting stuck on the nouns, but I will get there Very Happy Hopefully before anything major happens schoolwise.
