I think I've looked through all the translation topics and this isn't something repeated... but I'm not sure. Smile

I was just thinking this morning about the Pledge of Allegiance and how I still remember most of it in German from 7th grade but really, I hardly ever hear it even in English anymore.

So, I thought it would be fun to see it translated into everyone's conlangs. It could instead (or also) be your own pledge to a country you've created (and if so, an English version with it would be awesome), and I'd love to see if any words of the pledge are borrowed from natural languages or other conlangs. For example, in my language Hemnälg there is no word for "republic."

I finally have a moment! I plan to post Ualaxx and Tadváradcel later, after I get some sleep.

In Hemnälg:

"Republic" is a loan word from a language called Nus; "zus ku" meaning "(a group which) decides the alpha male" - this is in turn a loan word from another language, ddamaiche - "zássetae," gathering to choose one's lord.

I used the feminine pronoun and infix because I am female. Smile

Men would use "maviskett (fors)" instead.

I used the most grammatically proper Hemnälg I could, as it seemed appropriate. However, the speakers of Hemnälg have their own vows to their countries. The one for the country of Nöra goes like this (in slightly less formal format):

Noulub luttsi åtnoj hvoldutt Nörana i par long i sor lus, raså nolvar vådåhå bejyc yr järtt nykhå pajda; llärnren suchic glårdec syd bejutt.

As a note, water in this place doesn't flow on the surface - it kind of comes up in springs and people settle around it and hope the springs don't stop. Nations are considered to be feminine, thus the use of "her." Also, names are very important, so slandering them is a big deal.

Again, "republic" is a loan word, from ddamaiche this time, and "allegiance" is widely believed to be a loan word from ra cel, the main branch of the language tree from which Tadváradcel comes.

Ualaxx has a number of borrowed words from a cipher I call Sal-Haim, spoken by a race of seafaring people who made the first contact with the Alaceg. In this translation, "flag," "republic," and "fairness" come from Sal-Haim laak, yerril, and fammech respectively. Also, the use of the vocative case with the word "god" is to assign importance to the word as if to give it a title, rendering it into the equivalent of capitalized "God."

The translation without hyphens and parentheses would be thus:
