Yay! I have passed the 2000 mark in my lexicon. I have now got 2195 words to be exact. ^_^ This summer seems quite promising for all of me and my sister's project!
And I also wanted to find out, how long you would spend on your con projects, be it language/story/world or culture.
Please tell me that on the board here. And I also want to know if other activities take up your time. |

My current conlang, Agishian, I hope to work on until I get it to the stage where I have enough stuff done for it to be a 'speakable' language or until I'm (hopefully not) sick of it. What takes up my time mainly is all the school work I have. I am definately going to get alot done next holidays and during my summer/christmas holidays. |

Work for me. Even when I'm taking a course, my sysadmin job seems to take well over the intended 40 hours per week. _________________ Dwirze ghárìlen ershónyá áqálán.

I would have guessed it would be mainly school or work... those are the most time consuming aspects of life in my opinion. LOL
How words do you have in Alurhsa, Halyihev? I think I read somewhere that you had around 10,000? |

8,159, plus another dozen or so that I haven't transferred into the computer yet. Tsiasuk-Pron is the one with 12,000 but that's English->Itlani. I think Itlani->English is somewhere around 10,000 or so. _________________ Dwirze ghárìlen ershónyá áqálán.

I see! Wow, that is a lot of words. I'm wondering why there is such a large difference between English->Itlani compared to Itlani->English. Would it be because Itlani uses less synonyms than English? |

I have the same issue if I run an English->Alurhsa list actually. The problem is that in the Alurhsa->English list a given Alurhsa word will often overlap several English terms, so you list them all to give the right nuance. When you go the other way, you want the Alurhsa word listed under ALL of those English words, since it *can* be used to translate any of them, depending on what you are trying to say. And, any given English word might have a number of different Alurhsa terms used to translate it, depending on the exact meaning and nuance you want.
Same thing for Itlani, where a given Itlani word might be listed under anywhere from one to a half-dozen English words, depending on how it overlaps the English terms. _________________ Dwirze ghárìlen ershónyá áqálán.

I see! I had a feeling it would be like that. English has a lot of words which basically mean the same thing. |

I don't think it's quite possible to count the number of words I have, but it's not much, certainly.
School takes up most, and certainly will take up more now that I'm starting high school in exactly 1 week. |

I now have 4 words in my basic lexicon, plus function words! (I really consider how the words sound, so the process is a bit slow for me) _________________ kasabot ka ani? aw di tingali ka bisaya mao na
